The Fool.

I remember your face

And how you looked back at me,

Melting my soul.

I was a fool then, and I still am,

Careless and dream-bound

To the point of absurdity.

You did not mind.

Or maybe you did.

I remember your smile

And that spoiled cat,

Fluffy and stupid;

You wouldn't let it out

For fear it would get stolen.

Was the same true of your heart?

I wonder now,

And I do not know.

Heaven knows I tried,

And failed,

And pined,

And ultimately forgot

The way all young love goes.

But I still think of you,

Now and then,

And that stupid cat,

Fluffy and spoiled.

But my time in the sun has left me now

And all that's left are empty words

And the taste of bitter black coffee.

Black Coffee

My lover tastes of Black Coffee, Dark, Scalding, Bitter. Two sips and I am addicted.
