Salt and Ash

You tell me to open up,

That love without vulnerability means nothing

A fragile heart soaks up love

And to love is to be scared,

To stand naked before the sea,

Say take me as I am,

And plunge,

To drown

To be carried upon the waves

Dashed against the rocks

To be found upon the sand, dying and bloated;

All worth it in the end for the salt-spray kiss

The cold embrace

Wind tousled hair and the caress of crows, floating upon the gale.

Take me.

Drown me.

I have always been yours.
